Nighttime Diffuser Blends For Adults and Children
The start of the school year is quickly approaching, and I'm working hard on getting my kids to bed earlier since early wake-ups are just around the corner. I'm not one to run the diffuser every night at bedtime, for myself or my kids, but I do break it out when one of us (or all of us!) need some help unwinding to fall asleep. The electric diffuser is a great option any time of day when emotions or energy levels need a gentle adjustment.

There's no need to keep a diffuser running all night. Not only is it a waste of essential oils, it's simply not as effective. Constant diffusion can stress the nervous system possibly leading to agitation or headaches, which is obviously the exact opposite of what you're trying to achieve! The body responds best to short bursts of diffusion for about 30-60 minutes. For this reason, I'd recommend turning your diffuser on about 15 minutes before bedtime with the door closed. This will give the diffuser a little time to do its job, and create a soothing environment to unwind.

If you have kids, you can read a couple of books in the bedroom prior to shutting off the light. This will give them a little time to take in the aroma and relax before you leave the room. Once they're asleep, you can shut off the diffuser and bring it to your room to calm your own nerves! All of these blends use essential oils that are considered safe for children, yet are wonderfully effective for adults too.
