Pick-me-up Diffuser Blend
This diffuser blend is the perfect pick-me-up any time of day. It's warming, uplifting, and the citrus aromas will also help freshen up your home! Black pepper essential oil is definitely worth adding to your aromatherapy collection, if you don't already have it. It's one of my absolute favorites, and I especially love it combined with the fresh aroma of citrus oils.

Pick-me-up Diffuser Blend

3 drops grapefruit essential oil (Citrus paradisi)
2 drops lemon essential oil (Citrus limon)
1 drop black pepper essential oil (Piper nigrum)
1 drop rosemary essential oil (Rosmarinus officinalis)

NOTE: All of these oils, with the exception of rosemary, are considered safe to use around children. Rosemary should also be avoided by those that suffer from epilepsy.

Here are a few of my favorite diffusers, if you find yourself in the market for one.

Stadler Form Jasmine Essential Oil Diffuser
Glass Nebulizing Diffuser by Organic Aromas
ZAQ Dew Essential Oil Diffuser

Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) essential oil is obtained through distillation or expression from the rind of the fruit. Its aroma is citrusy, sweet, and fresh. Its refreshing and uplifting aroma make it ideal for supporting symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression. It is not recommended to exceed 4% for a topical dilution due to its phototoxic nature.  Always avoid using more than 7-10 drops (in a carrier oil) when adding to the bath, as citrus oils can cause skin irritation for some people.

Lemon (Citrus limon) can be obtained through distillation or expression, though the aroma of the expressed oil is considered to be superior. With its fresh and clean aroma, it's an ideal oil to use in homemade cleaning products. It's wonderful in the diffuser to freshen up a room or for its uplifting and energizing qualities. It's important to note that expressed lemon essential oil is phototoxic, while the distilled version is safe to use on the skin when outdoors. Always avoid using more than 7-10 drops (in a carrier oil) when adding to the bath, as citrus oils can cause skin irritation for some people.

Black pepper (Piper nigrum) essential oil is distilled from the berries. It has a peppery, warm, and spicy aroma. It blends nicely with citrus oils, rosemary, rose, sweet marjoram, bay laurel, tea tree, and clove. It's considered a stimulating essential oil, so it's a great choice when dealing with low energy, mental exhaustion, or lack of motivation. It is also a popular choice among those that are trying to quit smoking (via an aromatherapy inhaler).

Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) essential oil comes in several varieties, or chemotypes, which occur naturally based upon a number of factors (location, environment, climate, etc.). Each variety differs in its predominant chemical constituent(s), which should be noted on the label (rosemary ct verbenone, rosemary ct 1,8 cineole, rosemary ct camphor). While they all vary in terms of their specific therapeutic benefits, rosemary is considered a stimulating essential oil that is ideal for increasing energy and clearing the mind.
